Wooden Drascombes
John Watkinson
Drascombe Barton
John Watkinson had the sea in his blood, but the home they had chosen
was about as far from the coast as you could get in Devon. It was a thatched
Devon Longhouse: part of the building, which is mentioned in the Domesday
Book (around 1066), even contains old ship's timbers. There were also
several old outbuildings, including a disused old stone barn. Their new
home was "Drascombe Barton".
